Malkoff - Maglite 3D question...

I love that Malkoff drop in for the Maglite 3D. But the listing says it's for lights with a D as the first digit in the serial #, mine is older and only has numbers in the serial number. Has anyone tried to use the Malkoff drop in in one of these older lights and if so what did you have to do to make it work?

I think the inner diameter of the older Mags is too big and the Malkoff module won't tighten in correctly because it uses force against the body to hold itself in.

If so you can do some copper tape or aluminum foil and press it in. Or glue it in.

I emailed Gene and he suggested making an adapter for the drop in so I'm thinking it's more than just a difference in diameter. I decided to get a drop in and get a newer 3D Maglite. I'll get a Terralux led for the older 3D. Really looking forward to using the Malkoff!!!
