Thread: The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

Iíve barely had time to play with it but itís super grippy. Threads are smooth as silk. I did a quick indoor comparison with my Streamlight 2L-X (was already bright enough to see without lights) and the Bodyguard has a tighter focused, slightly less white hue, beam. Itís 1150 vs 500 lumens so the intensity is obviously much more as well. Silly me flashed my eyes with both. Neither is fun but the Bodyguard was insane lol. Itís built like a beast but still a great size and weight. 1st time with anything but cr123.

Thanks! I do have the 219LLL from a previous run... I am always looking for a little more less output. Haha. I might snatch up another one of the 219 M31LLLs while they are still in stock, I love running those on 1 CR123 or a pair of Eneloops.

I bought the M31LL because I knew 50L would be enough for most of my uses. I was afraid that 15L from the M31LLL might be a little too low for a single mode light.

Do you find 15L to be enough for general use?

I am looking at these two drop-ins too and had the same thoughts. When the Surefire 6P first came out it was rated at 60L, so I used that as a guide and went with the LLL. It will work well for my intended purpose, so it depends on what you want to use it for.

    I purchased both an M60 and a M60F 25 degree with order #827.

I also just placed my 23rd order with them.

I am by no means a calibrated human being, but I would estimate the output to be a little more than that (around 30-40 lumens compared to other lights). It is plenty of light to light up your immediate area or to read with. I use it indoors, if I were to use it outside I would likely pair it up with a second light (sort of the way I will use a floody headlamp in conjunction with a brighter, further reaching light in bursts for hiking at night).

Well, just got my first Malkoff and I am impressed. I am pretty sure there will be more of Gene's stuff in my future.

Yep. For me, Malkoffs fall into an elite category of tools that when first received, my immediate thought was "yeah, I'll be needing a few more of these"

Hey guys, does anyone know how long an M61N will run on an unprotected Efest 16340 before dropping out of regulation?

If I recall correctly, someone on this thread asked Gene about the run time of an M61W on a 16430 and the answer was about 45 minutes. I would think that the M61N would get similar results.

I've got the M31LLL 219b, and I believe it's output is significantly higher than specs. I'm running it with a single AA, and believe the output is 15L at least. It's going to be way over 15L with a 123 battery. Others have found the same thing I think. Plus- it runs forever. The M31LL 219b draws over 3 times the current.

Well, I think I may already be classified a Malkoff Junkie and I just got my first Malkoff less then a week ago😔. It only took me a few days to cave and place an order for a bunch more stuff lol. I have to give a shout out to Cathy. Just as you guys have always said, their customer service was top notch. Keep up the good work Gene and Cathy. You guys make awesome stuff and are great to deal with👍.

I must also give a shout out to the person who started this... what may end up being addiction. You know who you are, thanks for getting me started👍.

Yeah, it's a nice little tank of a light, I am digging it. It has a M61L 219B V2(125 lumen) in it actually but, I have an M61N in the mail to try as well(along with some other stuff)🙂.

Does anyone know if the Malkoff E-Series tailcap will work with 1-cell SF bodies with a 2-way clip? Will the clip clear the tailcap step? Thanks👍.

Yes, it works perfectly on my E1D body. Had to stretch the spring some so the "flat" would line up with the very top of the clip. Other than that, total Malkoff goodness! And tail stand capability.

My M61LL ran for maybe 4 hours with 3.5 or so regulated in a MD1 if memory is correct using a 700 mAh 16340. Not sure about the M61N. Have one of those in my MD2.

I have a M60N but I believe I bought mine directly from Malkoff IIRC. It was one of my first Malkoffs and I love it! I think it is around 225 lumens so it has been eclipsed by newer modules in performance. I was disappointed when Gene discontinued the M60 but it is back in the form of the T models now. Now I carry the M61T/MD2 with a filter to neutralize the tint a bit.Using a protruding Nitecore clicky it is a lot like my original Judco switch MD2/M60N but with higher output and I love it as well.

I am familiar with the Oveready run of M61Ns but not the M60N so I don't know where yours would fall in performance as it may have been made later than mine using a different CREE. Maybe someone with a better historical perspective on Malkoff will chime in with better information.
I respectfully reserve the right to purchase yet another light......

My M60LL uses a Cree XR-E. I think most M60s used that LED as the optic was made for it or something like that.
