Anybody have one of these? It looks different with all 9 XM-Ls in a single reflector and I haven't seen any mention of it here. I have my tax refund coming and I want to pick up something really cool. Here's a link to it.

Features
*Material: Aircraft Aluminum
*LED: 9 CREE XM-L U2 LEDs
*Brightness: 8000-9000 lumens (Manufacturer estimation)
*Reflector: Aluminum orange peel reflector
*Reflector size: 78mm x 60mm
*Power supply (Not Included):
12*CR123A, 6*18650, 2*26650, 2*32650
*Max current: 15 Amperes
*Modes: 3 groups, A, B,C
A: 100%, 40%, 10%
B: 40%, Strobe 7Hz, Strobe 10Hz, SOS, Warning flash (10HZ - 2sec -Stop -2sec), Flash 1Hz, Flash 0.5Hz, Beacon ( 3 flashes at 0.1sec, each 5sec)
C: 10%, Customizable (from 10% to 100%)
*Switch: Magnetic ring selector
*Low voltage protection.
*Finish: Hard Anodize III
*Dimension( mm ): 290(length) x 43(body) x 46(tailcap) x 82(head)
*Weight: 1100 grams (without batteries)

15A draw from 3 Li-on batteries does not mean 1.6A to each emitter, the actual current going into the LED is actually always higher than the tailcap draw current, as the voltage of a typical Li-on exceeds the Vf of most of the common LEDs. And with converters at a typical 70-90% efficiency, it does not get wasted off as heat as well. So the actual amperage should be around 1.8-2 if i had to field a guess. Using Cree's PCT data, it would mean around 630 LED lumens. 9 of them would be around 4000+ lumens OTF. Not worth the extra over a good hard driven 3 XML light.

Well I guess I have my answer as to why I couldn't find it on CPF. It just caught my eye as I was looking at a different light. The array of LEDs in the reflector I thought looked cool, but I guess it would give it a strange looking beam too.

I can't imagine that it would have any throw at all with the LEDs arranged like that. Not to mention poor heatsinking. Would be interesting to see how it compares to that Flydragon CSM-360 thing.

I think they mean 15A through the two 32650s in series, so you've got 15A @ 7.2V = 100W, which would be 11W per emitter, which at the XM-L's Vf of 3.2V would be 3.4A per XM-L.

So the number is plausible -- but I pity that poor emitter in the Paul Lynde position.

You are making it all look so simple, but it is not. 15amp means huge resistance. And how about driver efficiency? Also, 100 watt means huge heat. All these would drammatically decrease the performance(higher than 3,2V VF on the led, much less Voltage on the battery@15amp(!!!) ,much less than 3,4amp draw, a lot less led performance due to such high heat issues).
And the worst, 15amp from 32650??? I would never do this!!!And if this is what they mean, I wouldn't like to be there to see it....
For me a good estimation for this flashlight is 4000 OTF MAX.

Also says you can run it with 9x 18650s or 18x CR123s!

Either way i think 1 XM-L is pretty powerful with the right setup.
