Couple of quick questions that I wasn't able to find when searching....

Does anyone have some pictures of both the XT11 and SC600 side by side? I wanted to see what type of size difference there was with the body & head.

Also, I know the SC600 is more of a flood light than the XT11. However, does anyone have any comparison pics (or any experience) with using the white diffuser filter? Specifically using a 2 x 16340's in the XT11 against the 18650 in a SC600. How is the light output from both lights with lighting up a wide area?

As you can see, the XT11 is ~ 1" longer, has a larger head for better throw, and does throw further...you can see trees off in the distance, and power poles further down the line with the XT11 than the SC600.

At less than ~ 50 meters, they are both excellent, but the throw advantage of the XT11 is not brought to bear. After ~ 50 M, the XT11's throw starts to show you things the SC600 is missing.

The above are all with 18650's...with RCR123A's, the XT11 is visibly brighter and throws even further. I use the 18650s as they have great run time.

Thanks a lot for the pics. That helped out. I can see the SC600 does have a little bit wider spill than the XT11. I assume with some 16340's and the white diffuser lens on the XT11, it would probably be comparible (or brighter) than the SC600.

Would you happen to have, or can you take some pictures of the lights side by side so I can see the length and width of both? Like if you put both lights with the head down on the ground, and took a side profile shot of them, along with a picture from the top down to see the width/gerth of the lights.

Just trying to get an idea of the overall size for some fitment into some packs I have.

i own both and theyre both absolutely excellent lights. the xt11 is a stronger patrol/tactical light, whereas imo the SC600 is more of an EDC light. they both do rock though

They are both about as thick in the middle as an 18650 tube (~ same diameter as each other)

The X11 is an inch longer because it has a tail cap switch on the tail end, and a little longer head.

Both of them have heads that get a little wider than the middle tubes, to house the lens assemblies, etc.

Short version, ones about 5" and ones about 4", and they're both the same diameter.

hmm .22 rifle. rabbits, ducks maybe small kangaroos?

Ducks with a .22 at night?

Seriously, you're hunting must be drastically different down under (I'm assuming that you are in Oz as the only place we could hunt roos in the states is at the local zoo!)

As for the light, I would think it will get you what you need. I use an XM-L in my ET T20C2 MkII and it would giveme plenty of light and reach for a .22.

That said when I use my light at night for varmint hunting (which is legal in case some are wondering), I typically use either a red or green drop-in rather than a bright white light.

Our duck have fangs ;)

Cheers

I think the range and size of the hot spot would be the factors to consider for shooting at night.

The SC600 for example is worthless past ~ 50 meters or so....its too dark past that.

The XT11 on one 18650 is good for ~ 150 meters for shooting, and ~ 200 meters with two RCR123A's.

With a .22, that's probably about right for fanged waterfowl.

Thanks for the replies.

I purchased a new SC600, played around with it for a day, and then sold it on here for a loss :p. I have on order the XT11 right now so I'll see how I like that.

I really liked the physical size of the SC600, but I wasn't too crazy about the UI and I really disliked the rough 'dry' matte finish. Plus, at least for my needs, the SC600 worked well but my TM11 blows it away with light output.... I would have only used the SC600 for a specific use, and I already have the TM11 for it... I figured both would be cool, but it was kind of a waste to get the SC600.

LOL

The TM11 is less pocketable, so I do have both SC600 and TM11. I just don't put the TM11 in my pocket.

I also have a XT11 in my pocket next to the SC600, as even combined, they still fit.

:D

The XT11 has ~ 2-3X the range of the SC600, but is still floody.

Its a VERY useful beam, and its my most used light.

Well, neither the TM11 or SC600 were going to be used for EDC or in my pocket.... mainly for backup or spare light usage.

But since I've read/seen the XT11 to have better throw than the SC600, I'm hoping I'll like this when I get it (I was a little disappointed with the range of the SC600, but then I should have expected it from my readings on here).

The TM11 is a beast. It out throws the SC600 by a HUGE margin...while still being a flood light.

The XT11's range is at least more similar to the TM11's range, but the patch of light out there is much larger for the 2,000 L light. The TM11 out throws the XT11 too.

Another light I like in this scenario is the 4Sevens S12...~ 5" long, but uses a 26650 instead of the 18650. I have mine with swapped drivers and burnt in LEDs to provide hi-med-low-moonlight options (Not stock). They give better throw and even more lumens, 800-1200 depending on mods. Its a fat little light due to the larger cell, but boy, does it have the juice!

I'm OK with it in my pocket, but I could see how it might be a little bulky for some.

TEEJ, Who did the mods to your S12 and what would one expect to pay to have that done? I have an S12 I am trying to sell but if it doesn't this may be an option for that light.
