I have pics of the DRY and TM11 beam shots from the other night:

TM11 - On Tree (More Zoom) ~ 405 M Range

DRY - Same tree

For scale -
The first Transmission Tower in these shots is ~ 103 M away, the wooden telephone poles are 73 M apart.

By eye, the DRY is brighter, and has more throw to boot. The DRY is one speed (ON), with a tail cap clicky (Which glows in the dark!), and not built to take a beating, with thin walls, etc. It WORKS great, and puts out a ton of light.

The TM11 feels more like a tool than a toy. Its also very bright, but is built more sturdily. It has multiple brightness settings all from the side switch...which blinks so you can tell where the light is in the dark.

Both are very floody beams.

For perspective, the same shot on the distant tree with the SR90 looks like this:

- Hope that helps!

TEEJ,

Thanks for the comparison and beamshots. I know there have been other threads mentioning these two lights and commenting about the output of each. It is nice to see the lights in one thread. Good job!

I find King very appealing and TM11 even more so I've been looking after various posts and test involving those two and also DRY. I came to a conclusion that the brightest of the bunch is at most 10% brighter than the least bright.

Once there was a post on CPF comparing Skyray King and Nitecore TM11 indicating that King is 50% brighter than TM11. I believe it is flawed. It was removed from CPF but you can find some pictures from it here. If you look at the ceiling bounce images you'll se that King is as bright as Xstar S1 and both are about 50% brighter than TM11. OTOH a CPF member "selfbuilt" did a review of Xtar S1 and included TM11 in ceiling bounce test. His table shows that TM11 is even a notch brighter than S1.

I have a Dry XM-L with the Turbo (direct drive) mode. Mine pulls 5.6A to the tailcap off the 12.6V input with IMR 18650 cells. Now, thats is awesome and explains why its so freaking bright.

Yeah, as far as Lumens per buck, the DRY 3 XML is a beast.

If it were sturdier, it would be one of my primaries instead of a back up.

TEEJ: In what way it not sturdy. There are so many off shore flashlight models similar to major brand name models available at about 1/3 the retail price.

I learned years ago there is no free lunch so what gives with this DRY 3? What are it's shortcomings? Thanks.

Re: Skyray King 3-XML, Dry 3-XML and TM-11

I know this is an old thread, but my TM11 is brighter than my Skyray King. The UI on the SRK is simple and uses very little standby power. The locator beacon on the TM11 causes me to lock it out with the tail cap when I'm not using it.... so.... I tend to grab the SRK first. It gets more use.
