I was wondering what you guys/gals like to play/do when you are in Vegas.

I like to play 21 and Crazy 4 Poker. I don't like to play slot machine; but will entertain my mother when we go together.

I love the margarita by the yard drink and the buffets. :) Never been to a show before, would love to see "Blue Man Group" one day.

I'm a big roulette fan; it's not the game with the best odds, but you can win big at it faster than anything else on the floor by a huge margin - $10 in chips turns into $350 in chips in 40 seconds, my kinda game. Mandalay Bay is my preferred game room, be sure to tip the girls no less than $5 each time, you'll be glad you did..

Be sure to see anything Cirque, even if it's the only show you see there, you might find it more memorable than the rest of the vacation. And I'd recommend staying at least a week just for the time needed to walk the shoppes on/in the Strip casinos, it's way too much to see in a few days. Make generous use of the monorail, and remember that Vegas' public drinking laws are extremely lax, so feel free to grab a giant margaritia and walk around town with it for a few hours.

For each drink???

Yep, or more depending on how well you're doing. The more you tip, the more often she'll come back to check on you, the sooner you'll get your order, then the cigarette girl will stop by, etc. Your drink probably would cost that much, and she deals with plenty of penny-slot and dollar-chip folk who tip little or none at all, so it doesn't take much to make yourself stand out and get the reciprocal service.

Should also mention: Don't get a room on or anywhere near the Strip, $200 will get you a walk-in closet of a room that's for individual bachelors only. The same amount on the outskirts of town way out by the airport will get you a two-room executive suite with a jet tub.

+1

What I love about Vegas is that (unlike Atlantic City) you can go there, not gamble a dime, and still have a fantastic time due to the shows and other things to do there.

Roulette for sure, the first thing I do in a casino is play $20 on either black or red and then sit for as long as I can go.

Break the $20 into $1s, place $2 each on ten numbers; if one of your numbers is chosen, boom - you win $70 in one play (see, fast!)

That's similar to how my wife like's to play most of the time but for better or worse I'm more simple minded and like to play red/green or a row of numbers. I didn't say I was really good at it but it's seems I can make my money last or even now and then make a good profit, mostly not profit but I'll tell ya what the wifey is pretty darn good at it.

Man now I so got the itch to go gambling I haven't been in a log time now, my son came into this world 5yrs ago and was born with a rare heart defect, 4 open heart surgery's and a few cath labs later he is doing better but vacations have been non existent which is ok because he has been the only thing that has mattered since then.

Anyways since he is doing better I would like to get around and see some things again, Vegas sounds SO good but I'll probably end up in Disney World. :)

I like Red Rock Canyon. It's a fairly short drive from the strip and it is so peaceful and beautiful, completely the opposite of what most people think of when they hear "Vegas."

I miss the local Island food, the best is the Ox Tail Soup they serve after 23:00 at the California Hotel! Sure hit the spot in the winter!

I played only at the casinos outside of the strip!

Last night my husband and I sat out at the pool at South Point Hotel and Casino and took pictures of the solar eclipse. It was awesome! :D

I've been to Vegas regularly as our daughter lived in Henderson and performed in several bands over the years at various hotels. Amazing how much it's changed since my first bachelor party RV trips in the late 70s. Now for us it's the shows and cuisine (Love is fantastic). We really enjoyed the atmosphere and free outdoor concerts at Lake Los Vegas under the stars. Imagine, sunset gondola rides on a desert lake in a Tuscany setting. Sadly, it's now defunct, another casualty of the failed economy.

Last time I was in Vegas was just over two years ago. They were still giving those rides. Very sad to hear that that's no longer the case.

Really wish they hadn't replaced coins in the slot machines with paper receipts.

Yeah, you get a jack-pot and the machines still make the same noise as if a ton of coins are hitting the bottom. But it's not remotely the same.
