That's what I observed about the o-ring too. It's not moving and sometimes it snag when you screw/unscrew the light.
I change the o-ring with a black one with the same size or maybe a hair thinner. Now the o-ring moves when I screw/unscrew the light.

Mine came with a black o-ring and have not had any problems. Good lubrication is important. If your o-ring is silicone, I've been told that silicone grease may damage it and cause it to swell. If your o-ring is rubber, petroleum products will make it swell. Pick your lubricant carefully. Nice video!
