I expect it won't be long before 100 lumens for $10 is readily available in bricks-and-mortar stores. I was in Hope Depot yesterday and noticed the Rayovac "Indestructable" for $15 with 100 lumens - that's a lot of bang for the buck for a light bought at a lumberyard.

It could be awhile as the under $20 lights are probably using bottom feeder LED bins for the cheapest possible price. I think the first sub $10 100 lumen light will most likely be mostly plastic when it comes to local stores. If you consider the quality of the rayovac 2AA and figure how much of the cost is the LED only I don't think you can reduce the price of the LED even close to $5.

Lynx Arc,

Where are you getting that information? You can already get the Techlite XPG 3 pak aluminum, 3 mode (lo 120, hi 200, & strobe) for $15 at B&M stores.

I take it he was inferring something other than the 3AAA format
