Present-day equivalent of 2008 Lowe's Taskforce 2C?

The first worthwhile flashlight I owned was the Task Force Cree 2C, sold by Lowe's. I have two, and still use them all the time. I have given many out as gifts, as recently as this year (it is now sold under the brand Utilitech).

In 2008, it was really bright and really inexpensive. What is the present-day equivalent of this light? Has an AA-cell light equalled it? Or is there another light that blows it away?

At lowes, you can now get a Kobalt 500.

Its a 500 lumen light that DOES blow that old puppy out of the water.

It takes 2 or 3 CR123's IIRC.

On sale, they are not a bad deal...but at ~ $60-ish, they are still the best light at Lowes, but, that's a big fish in a small pond.
