Tonight I was volunteering at our Lutheran Church and
school. We were having a Fall Harvest Festival for some
good, clean family fun. I of course took along several flashlights
(who wouldn't?) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
It was getting dark a little early due to all of the ash in the air.
It was actually "snowing" ash from the numerous local fires here
in Southern California. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif
The first two lights to get used were a pair of 6P's that
were used with traffic wands. We directed trucks and SUV's
to park in a vacant field (they had to go over a six inch
curb first). The lights were very bright and were a big hit!
It's fun to see the response when they inevitably ask, "how
much does a little light like this cost?" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Later, one of the big generator powered lights used for
general area illumination (big sodium lights on pop-up type
"trees" or towers) went dark. The call went out - "anyone
around here have a flashlight?" Of course, I was there in
an instant with my trusty SF G2Z. ("Wow that's bright!")
We looked and saw that someone had taken the key and the unit
had stopped. Guys started looking around on the ground and
someone pulled out an Solitaire!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hahaha.gif I pulled out my new
Arc AA and handed it to one of the other guys there
so he could help to find the missing key.
The "generator light guy" said that if anyone had a thin
enough key on their key-chain that he could use it to
restart the unit. No one had a key thin enough but my
Leatherman Micra did the trick! The nail file/nail cleaner
got the generator restarted!
As I was walking away I heard someone ask,
"who was that man with all the flashlights?"
(O.K., I made up that last quote -
everything else really happened!) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
