Ok, dark. And yeah, you are right, newish moon. I have a 30 acre forest behind my house but this time of year the foliage is so heavy I can't get beyond about 200 yards, but the first test was very impressive. I tested it against a Nightcore TM 11 and a Fenix 35, not throwers but what I had on hand. This light appears to be a beast. I won't know until I get out in open country to see how far it really throws, but I am really impressed. Good build quality, lousy instructions, and good performance, everything you would expect!
