This will be the only thread now for the 2004 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. I have closed the other thread but you can still go there for information. I'll try to consolidate as much of the important information as possible here. If anyone has any questions or information from here on out, please post it in this thread.

The SHOT Show is going to be in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Thursday to Sunday, February 12-15, 2004.

Here is a good source for location information and hotels.

Here's the ShotShow website.

Here's a picture of The Fairfield Grand Desert Resort... where the get-together is going to be. MrTedBear has a timeshare there. The get-together will be Saturday, February 14th at 7PM. Peter Gransee of ARC Flashlights will be sponsoring the get-together... IOW, he's footing the bill! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

Peter posted this in the other thread regarding VIP passes:

The 2004 SS is going to be a lot of fun! I hope to see you all there.

Jeff Hong ("CPF Host") is organizing the party. He has found a location and is setting up the food, drink, etc. Arc is footing the bill (my pleasure). Everyone is invited: CPF, flashlight manufacturers, etc.

We will have a booth at the show. I will post our booth number in a week or so. Getting into the show is a pretty easy thing. In December, we will have VIP tickets. Just ask for one and we will send it to you. These get you in the show for $15 (reg $45). Just put that you are a guest. No reason to say you are something your not. This is a easy show to get into guys. You can also register on the website if you want but I think it is more expensive.

As far as where to stay, this is up to you. Some people may want to do groups, etc. As long as everyone gets to the party, the rest are just details.

Peter

The rules are that no one under age 16 will be allowed into the SHOT Show. However, all are welcome at the get-together.

Ok everyone... let's start planning! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

Well, I'm cashing in some fly-miles and I'm already registered for entry and I've got a place to stay at my sister's house, so I guess I might as well officially announce that as of this moment, I Am Definitely There...

Beretta, don't you live on the mainland? Just drive over! At least you don't have to book a flight and board a plane every time you want to get out of the state like we Hawaiians do...

I figure I'm only gonna be sleeping in the hotel, so I don't need to spend the big bucks there. My only requirements is that the hotel should be within walking distance (and I can walk a mile) to the convention center, and have a non-smoking room. Something along the lines of Embassy Suites sounds good to me.

So, before I go book the Convention Center Embassy Suites (** Oops, never mind - they're booked!), can anybody who knows the area well suggest something better? I think we'll fly in Friday and fly out Sunday. We'll do a major show Friday evening, the big party Saturday evening, and be at SHOT inbetween.

Thanks!

I am there. We are staying at the Hilton Vacation Club, just north of the Hilton, which is in turn just north of the convention center.

The Hilton is the closest hotel to the convention center, in case people are wondering.

Any news on the monorail (runs right by the convention center and up and down the strip)? Will it be done by then?

So... somebody close to me just pointed out that Feb 14 is some sort of crazy smooching day or something. If a "theme" is needed for the party, there you go.

Man, if I get out of this one alive (in regards to my wife, mind you), I'll count myself lucky.

Hello? Is this thing on? tap, tap, tap.

So I finally hunkered down to find a room... and I've come up empty! Everywhere I've checked is already booked. I've checked with all the hotels I'm familiar with, and those that I'm confident are relatively near-by. But now I'm stuck - I'm outside my happy place of knowing what the hell I'm doing.

I can get a room at the Bellagio - but that's a bit out of my price range, and is quite a ways down the road.

Time to look up a travel agent to see if something can be turned up. Any info from anybody else who's tried to book a room recently? Hmmm. I wonder if anybody knows a retired travel agent around here???

I just booked a flight and room package at the Riveria Hotel and Casino. From the map that Brock provided, it doesn't look like too far of a walk. Like I know what I'm doing; NOT! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I haven't even booked my hotel yet... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif ... I do need to get on that. We will obviously have a vehicle so we can provide some transportation around town.

I will be there, my wife lived in Vega's when we met so it is a great excuse for her to go see friends. Now let's talk about this party are you sure about the 14th? We had dinner in the Eiffel tower restaurant and then I purposed to my wife on one of the balcony's in front of the Bellagio, if I go to this party on the 14th I will be divorced.

Hey Jeff -

Flying in Friday, flying out Sunday - so Friday and Saturday night. I'm seriously not familiar with the area, and am fresh out of maps of "Cheap Hotels West of the Freeway." How far away from the convention center are we talking about here? If you can fling a few of the closer ones at me, I'd be happy to nail this down!

Thanks, buddy.

Welp. Assuming you meant the Riviera - I'm being told that there is no availability there either. Starting to feel like I'm chasing everybody else around and finding they got the last room. What the hell?

Is this some sinister plot to keep me from meeting everybody?

Lemme know if you can toss me a bone here, Sasha!

Yes, I realize it's Valentine's Day, but unfortunately few will be arrriving on Thursday; many will arrive Friday pm after work, and others on Saturday. It was by default that Saturday was choosen.

Sugggestion: take your wife to the Elton John concert on Friday at Ceasars Palace. I'm working on flying my wife up Friday afternoon for the show, but she needs to be back on Saturday afternoon

Hmmmm. The Riviera seems to have rooms of their own - but the other hotel reservation places don't seem to think so. Hmmm, I say again.

Always wanted to sleep with Don.

*** Edit: checking email... (ain't easy since I'm on the road and on dialup!)
