Jeez, I got one yesterday and didn't even realize it is an XP-G2. I like it, bright and pretty nice color for a non-warm light. Can't run it on an 18650 though, voltage is too low.

I also have an SHO. It's does actually have great tint for a cool light but I'm excited about the warm.

Great! When did this drop? More money Il end up spending.... but really I was getting sick off all these XM-L and XM-L U2 lights, to floody. I mean my favorite light right now is probably my Quark X123^2 but for more out door stuff the XM-L lights do a lot more lumens but would always have less lux even with 3x the lumen output, not in all cases but a lot.

Wait tho why does cree's website say that the XP-G will do 493lm max but the XP-G2 will only do 488lm? So the XP-G2 is just more efficient at lower currents but isn't as bright? Thats a real buzz kill.

From my post in this thread:
And here we are, just check some more numbers, that i didn't manage to upload them yesterday:
Fenix PD32 R5: was 323 lumen and 5175 lux, now 382 lumen and 7300 lux!
Armytek PRedator R5: was 345 lumen and ~17,000 lux, now 411 lumen and 27.150 lux!
Quark mini123 ti S3: was 293 lumen and ~3450 lux, now 310 lumen and 4470 lux!

All readings are @~30sec after activation, i have put a lot of effort to measure them accurately, but still, to be sure for all expect a +-3% difference.

You modded all those your self?

All xp-g2 leds are R5 from cutter 1A color.
I modded all these, more to come.Another 2-3.
The led is fantastic, does not show anymore that big donut hole, almost no donut. Beam is a bit tighter, artifacts are the same as xp-g.
All mods are made by myself.

This led is the next step for EDC flashlights. Has the lumen of a XM-L, the throw of a XP-E.
