NYE 759G? (flashlight/O-ring lube) *new info*

i'm thinking of buying in bulk and selling what i don't need. anybody interested?

I researched your question and have the following answers:

For orings we use Nye, Nyogel 779zc which is a thick nonconductive, nonmigrating grease that will not cause the orings to swell and thus break or shear.
For threads we use Nye, Nyogel 759g which is a nonconductive grease that works well in aluminum to aluminum applications.
NOTE*** even though the grease in "nonconductive" it is not an insulator either, The 759g is used on connectors mostly.
Posting these descriptions is okay.

the 759G can be used for both switches and o-rings so i'm just considering it as i see no reason for the other.

nobody's interested flashlight lube? same stuff surefire uses.

tkl..How would you sell it? My usage is minimal (just o-rings) and I'd only need a small amount.

I was the one who posted (with his permission) Steve Ryan's email to me on Surefire's usage of the Nye NyoGel.

FYI, you omitted my important "note" that Steve's email contained a typo. For the o-rings, its actually Nye NgoGel 779zc (not 799 as mistakenly contained in his email).

Not to torpedo your efforts, but alternatively in pairs those wanting the NyoGel lubes could order from www.lubekits.com.

They sell both the 779ZC and 759G in 50 gram (1.76 oz.) tubes for $23.95--so if a pair of buyers split the cost, it'll work out to about $12 per .88 oz. of either lubricant.

Given how much of the stuff you actually use, even for multiple flashlights, its a pretty good buy.

BTW, Steve Ryan followed up his email to me and indicated that in his years of handling customer's flashlights, he has never found any "lubricant" (or lack thereof) related damage...implying that almost any generic off-the-shelf product will suffice. Nevertheless, understandably, we CPF'ers tend to be a bit anal about our high-priced illumination equipment and want only the best.

yeah, i saw the tubes. the prices i got were from NYE direct. you get a much better price break for buying a gallon or seven gallon bucket but it's way too much for one person. i was hoping to sell it to a hundred or so. but i don't think i have the interest, especially with it being offered a few months ago by jtivat(i think).

i figured it out at one film canister will hold 1oz at $12 shipped is better than splitting the tube you talk about. if you order the lubekit you get less and pay more after shipping. but agin, it's probably a moot point since the majority got it the last time around.

it was just a thought.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">well, i'd take that with a grain of salt. they don't like to admit the rechargable battery fiasco, the sf 123's failing, 9an tail cap or any other bugs either until after they take a thorough beating here.

i think that's why you see so many people here waiting for the A2 reviews before buying. sf is getting known for having problems with new offerings.

It was me they also charge an $8 minimum for shipping or at least that's what the quoted me. So I would say the $12 shipped is still a good deal.

Count me in as well.

unless i get alot more interest i won't be doing this. i have one canister for sale now in the B/S/T and it isn't exactly flying off the shelf.

well, if anybody wants something "new", NYE has a 760G that they are considering replacing the 759G with. i could go that route but i figured everyone wanted what sf currently uses.
