I was passing through Atlanta yesterday and stopped in at REI. I went and checked out their headlamps and found a few of the new 1W LED Matrix 2s. I played with one for a few minutes but I did not have anywhere dark to test it out.
I didn't buy one as I would not be able to return if I didn't like it. I live in Florida and don't often get up to Georgia.
I briefly took out the LED module. I'm too new at this to tell you what kind of LED it is (LD of HD), but it is not just a drop-in from EverLed as someone here suspected. That's not to say that the LED didn't come from EverLed, it could have, but if so, it is incorporated into a module, similar to the modules for the first generation Matrix. Hopefully someone here will purchase one soon and write up a review.
The price was $39.95. They did not have any of the other 1W LED lights that Princeton Tec is coming out with.
