Seems match making is going down hill. I used to get blue tipped matches that worked great, but now I have to use half a box to get a fire going.

Gonna' be an interesting thread here.

Before anyone says: " Get a Fire Steel " instead of matches, let me say this . . . .

When I need to Light a Candle, a firesteel just isn't the right tool for the job.

Lighting a cigar with fire steel may work better than the present day strike anywhere matches.

Actually the best matches I know of are Swedish Solstickan. But I don't have a source in the US.

I like the Diamond "Strike Anywhere" kitchen matches but they seem to be difficult to find now.

Double-bag the match box in two zip-loc bags to keep them from getting damp.

Those are the matches I was thinking of. "strike anywhere" must mean out of frustration when trying light them.

Best I've encountered are Stormproof matches. (Check out link below.)

The good news is, you don't have to order from CC just to get one box of matches. Have seen them sold through REI and ****'s Sporting Goods.

The matches give off a bad smell. But these work incredibly well.
