Alright guys, tried scouring the net with no luck. What I have is an old wood box.

It has nails holding the bottom, buts the sides are "glued together" with square cut-outs, like this

With words burned into it in this fashion:

It only has markings on the one side and they read as follows

4D / 321
R (crown symbol) VI
H E G
1943

The second line is for King George VI, King of England at the time. The last line is the year (duh). What I'm having trouble with is the top and 3rd line. Is the top line a "technical" description of what the box contained? Like a size? Does it make sense to any electricians? Gun guys? And the 3rd line, is that an old ammo type symbol (like HEI=High Explosive Incendiary)? Company? Initial?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I'll try to get a pic up soon. The box is approx. 4" tall, and 6" L by 6" W.
