I am looking for a set of those fake fire place logs that light up and flicker.
I cant find any locally so I am resorting to the wonderful web.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Input on any bulbs that I could use to make one are also welcome.

Thanks.

Brightnorm, you are truly amazing! I have not seen one of these in years. For you to turn one up in such a short time...well as I said amazing.

As I remember these had small propellers mounted above the lamps which were spun by the heat rising from the lamps.
The propellers spinning caused the light to "flicker" and look like a real fire.

Some of them also had some strips of mylar which was blown around and sparkled from under them and made a clickety sound somewhat remaniscent of a fire /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I really don't have anything to add here other than I'm looking for some too. We're got a gas fireplace here too but the log thingy in it is so big that all the flames are actually above the opening of the fireplace and up the chimney. So not only does it not put out any heat but you can't actually see the flames which is the whole point right? I may just try to remove some, but my initial impression is that it's cast as one piece...
