Arc LS/CR2 \'Cigar Butt II\'

I'm sure this has been done before, but I did a quickie mod to an Arc LS, cutting it down to accept a CR2 battery. Took all of 15 minutes, all that is needed is to shorten the head and bore out some of the threads. I also shortened the batt pack on this one. The CR2 fits a little sloppy and I'll probably sleeve it, but it works just fine. Flanked by the great little Firefly and another LSH.

MAN that is small. Any shorter and you could attach a band on the end and wear it as ring! Shades of Green Lantern...

Dan_C,

That's a very clean mod! As a CR2 fan myself, am very curious as to the overall length?

Larry, it's 1.920" long. In addition to shortening the head, boring the threads back, and male threads on the batt pack, I also trimmed the base of the battery pack to .040" wall thickness. I think it's about as short it's gonna get now!

Dan_C,

Congrads, you beat me! My CR2 is 2.110", but that includes .125 for the flush split ring /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif . I was curious because Peters' stack with the Arc Ls is shorter than I can do using dat2zip's boards in a sandwich config. Nice job!

Yep, the Arc electronics are sure compact. The Cigar Butt is nice and short, but feels downright chubby compared to the Firefly. I can only dream of handling one of your LL123 or CR2 jobs.......
