***NOW SOLD***

Hi Folks,

[Scroll down for outdoor beam shots]

Up for sale is my MagC SST90. I have too many lights, so this is going. Reduced to 55 GBP plus shipping.

[The emitter alone was 35GBP...]

IMG_1575_zps40bd2541.jpg

1. There are no marks on this flashlight.
2. The emitter is the highest bin (2200 lm). I don't have the receipt to prove it, but I remember buying it from a Luminus authorized dealer.
3. The driver is a Der Wichtel 9A buck. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...icient-5A-9A-Buck-Converter-for-SST-50-SST-90
4. The heat-sink and reflector are from Britelumens: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...0-MAG-C-D-Deluxe-Heatsink-***Ready-to-ship***
5. Host is a Mag 2C in black.

You'll need to supply two IMR batteries. As the driver is a switch mode buck, the output will remain constant until the converter is unable to maintain regulation due to low battery voltage. This happens on this converter at 5.3v input, which works out at 2.65v per cell; well within the safety limit for IMRs. At 5.3V the light will flicker.

This light runs at approx. 40W, and it's really bright.

The converter used in this project was tested here (see my post 134):

Mate, Good looking light - good luck with your sale.

I think, though, that you're supposed to list a final price for paypal, not a price 'minus fees'.

Re: F\S SST90 Mag2C (40Watts)

Hi,

I've used this light with both 26500 and 18650.

18650: You'll need to buy an 18650 deep tail cap from FiveMega, and an 18650 to C battery sleeve from FiveMega also. I used AW 1600mA IMR.
26500: Mine came from ebay, and I believe they were split from a larger battery pack. They fit the std flashlight.

AW's 26500's will work if you can find any (discontinued, however they sometimes come up on CPF), but you'll need his spacer also as his batteries were longer than 50mm.
I believe KD is selling 26500s, but I know nothing about these cells (exact dimensions etc). You'd have to mail them.
You can now get 2000mA 18650 IMRs from AW.

Thanks.

Assuming an 18650 fits, shouldn't a 26650 fit as well?

Re: F\S SST90 Mag2C (40Watts)

Hi,

Unfortunately not. The deep tailcap that FiveMega sells allows for an 18650, but not a 26650 (as the tailcap thread on a magC is internal, and a 26500 is much wider -26mm).

If you look at the tailcap arrangement on a mag, you'll see what I mean.

There's plenty of capacity in two 26500s IMHO.

Re: F\S SST90 Mag2C (40Watts)

this looks like a really killer deal, i'm shocked no one's bought it yet

I'm surprised too. Must be the economy.........

Would make more sense to break the light for parts than drop the price any further.

OK,

Here are some outdoor beam shots I took this evening. Camera set to Manual mode, fixed aperture and exposure.

1. Cree R5 @1A
2. Tri Seoul P4 @ 1A each.
3. SST90 @9A

The SST90 just blows the rest away. It's an insane amount of light from such a small package.

Re: F\S SST90 Mag2C (40Watts)

if your SST90 is pushing 9A, driven by 2x rechargeables at ~8V .... doesnt it result in ~72W ??
