    Default Mokuti Mule 18350 Light

And a light with mind of its own--it wanted to run away. :-)

Thanks, but these have both taken more than a "few weeks" to make. :-)

There's a fairly steep learning curve with new materials--they don't always behave as one might expect. LOL

My first reaction was also to swear when I saw the picture.
I've never seen anything like that before.
    Amazing originality and machining mastery.

Thanks, all, for the kind words. While I like it also, I think that there's room for improvement with some tweaking.

    Default Final Pics

    And here's the finished light:

The front of the light, showing the custom LED cover--actually two pieces there--these do not affect the beam at all--the LED is fairly close to the lens:

And the rubber boot that activates the McClickie switch:

Some specs on the Mokuti Mule ight:
    • Made from Chad Nichol's Mokuti--a forged, twisted bar of two Ti alloys--6AL4V and CP
    • 18350 AW battery
    • McCllickie switch--screwed in from the top of the battery tube
    • 2mm thick mineral glass lens
    • O-ring sealed
    • Light Engine built by datiLED--Nichia 219 high CRI LED, high output GDuP with three levels of output: 20mA, 180mA and 1200mA, with memory
    • custom LED cover made from 6AL4V Titanium and anodized to complement the body of the light.

The LED shield really takes the finish of this piece to a new level of PIMP.

You have perhaps outdone yourself on this one, Fred. I am glad I browsed that old thread and stumbled on this pattern.

For those of you that care, Derek set me up with a 219 Nichia for maximum CRI goodness.

When one combines Fred with Derek, the result is WIN!

My god man. That texturing is brilliant. I bet you could do a run of P60 or Aleph-compatible lights with that texture and sell them all in a few days.

Yes I think pretty much anything with that intricate pattern would sell quickly.
I'm sure pure Ti or Damascus would also look great.
