Since you already have a TLE-310M-EX, it would be better to just buy a 2D M*glite incand and power it with 2 AW's protected 18650 using spacer.

3100 mAh capacity, correct voltage, long run time, light weight, easier to carry and low self discharge.

Thanks, I've ordered a new Maglite 2D along with a pair of 3 AA to 1 D adapter that I'll use. Surprised at how cheap the Maglites 2D are. For now, I'd like to stick with either AA or AAA rechargeables. My chargers are 12 volt with a 110 adapter and everything else uses either AA or AAA. Not sure what I'll do with my old 4 D Maglite, had it for over 30 years and it always worked.

I looked closer at the Malkoff adapter with zoom and it appears it's just a split sleeve extender. It works for the malkoff since there is a set screw to hold it tight. The teralux needs a screw on connection. I'll see if I can easily fabricate and extender. The thread looks extremely fine, so I'm not sure I can find off the shelf parts.
