All the numbers for a newbie

New to the boards... I have a classic 6P that I just ordered a new CREE for and Im wondering where I can go to learn about all the types and basic info about how flashlight circuitry works and what the differences are. For instance..all the different types of heads/lenses/through put ect. And direction is appreciated.
