Flashlight............flash?!

Hi everyone. I have a 3-mode Streamlight Protac EMS. When I turn it on.....poof quick little flash before going into its normal mode. It's not overwhelming, it's just noticeable. However, this light is used to check patients' pupils and I just don't want to fry anybody's peepers. Anyone knows why it does this?

In the flashaholic community, this is called "pre-flash". Some lights are known to do this, like certain older Quarks. Your light appears to be one of them. I doubt there's much you can do about it, other than pointing the flashlight away from any eyes, or covering the head of the light while turning it on.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to explain why this may occur.
