I just got a Fenix T1 from a friend.
Anybody ever try to mod the Q5 emitter with newer emitter like xpg, xml or other ?

Thanks

All I can give you are some generalities.
It came with an XRE emitter, which is famous for being one of the best throwing emitters ever.

If you take that out, and put in an XPG, the light will lose approximately half of its throw, but it will be floodier and have more overall lumens.
If you put in an XML, you will lose even more of the throw, but it will be even floodier than the XPG, and have more overall lumens than the XPG too.

The only emitter that you could put in that would retain most of the throw would be the XPE, which probably wouldn't give you much better anything anyway.
So, if you want to keep your throw distance, you don't EVER want to remove that original XRE emitter. However, you could gain a little bit of throw distance by moving to the higher bin XRE emitter, such as an XRE-R2. That will give a little more brightness and throw. But the R2 has a cooler tint, and does not have the nice neutral white of the Q5.
