Hello, -

I recently bought 2 E05's from ebay. a seller in hong kong. ( as item#
130800352528 )
the advert stated they were R2's.

when they arrived and I checked with fenix, one was an R3 and the other an R4.

is this the fault of the seller, really?.
i dont mind really what they were, but did hear that the R2 was a close to neutral white.
would somewhere such as the fenix-store ensure they actually were what the packaging stated before sending to a buyer?.

I mean I probably would buy from a seller who knew exactly what they were sending rather than the other way because when I found that the R2 was near neutral white, I checked, and they were both totally different to what the advert/packaging stated.

anyway, since then, I have sold one of them on, and my partner has the other, and she ain't fussed.

thanks.

R2, R3 and R4 refers to binning of the LED and not the tint. Reading off Cree's binning and labelling document, the R3 and R4 should be brighter than the originally advertised R2 due to their respective greater efficiency. You probably got newer stock and they just haven't updated their webstore to reflect that.

+1 to Rod911's post.

As for tints, it' really a lottery on what you get.
Some may get R2s that look more neutral than others but doesn't mean that the R3, R4 will be any worse.

What you have is the latest stock with the higher binned LEDs.
