BD Xenix luxeon headlamp @ rei

$44.50 well made, screw to hold down battery (3AAA) cover, the luxeon had a moderate case of the pea green beam color on the display model.

How's the throw on the Luxeon?

Did you happen get a look at the lens it's supposed to have? I've been wondering what it does to the beam profile - especially whether it leaves any spill light.

hard to tell, the rei employee putting them on display told me to take them to the bathroom and turn out the lights, so the bathroom was only so big. It looks like it has nice throw, the lens looks like a nx05 style i didnt inspect it too close. As far as spill it looks like some is visible, hampered slightly since the lens is slightly recessed. the two surrounding led's are surprisingly bright, w/ a slight blue tint and plenty of flood. The xenix looks really cool and well made, of course this is based on 5 minutes of inspection. I got sidetracked and ending up having to leave the store w/o one, I will be back tho'
