I don't believe Cree makes any 'finished' consumer products. I.E. the Cree headlamp simply means the LED in it was made by Cree. Cree just sells the LED, it is up to some one else to build the product that utilizes the Cree manufactured LED.

It is very likely that these two products are in fact identical, and both are probably built in the same factory. Lenser probably just slaps their name on the finished product they buy from a factory in China. This is a common practice in the industry.

More than likely the case is as stated previously. Also cree doesn't make an led called Q5 like you see all over ebay. That's a bin number like the T6 for the xml. So it's probably no way to know which emitter these things have, therefore no way to know brightness(probably exaggerated anyway) and no way to know the regulation so run times are probably crappy.
As for quality...well I think you know better.
