Hello, made this Magmod just for fun.
What i used : 50Watt 4000lumen led from DX , 50mm mirror from DX , 2 x 3cell lipo 1400mA from Traxxas , 3D maglite.
This light is for 30sec burst only ( led gets to hot) led is 22 - 24 volts and 2400 mA but when it gets hot the mA goes up (need to add a resistor in serie with the led but dont know how much ohms) Battery is 25.2Volts from the charger.
Will add photos outside if i have the time to take one.
Greetings Marc

I can't wait to see the beamshots! It looks like you machined a heatsink made out of aluminum? Is it pretty easy to disconnect the battery packs? Good fit inside the battery tube? Nice job so far!

Fun build :)

I think however that you can improve the build by moving the relector right up to the lens. Now it is sunk down in the maglite head and a lot of light is not leaving the head now :).

Figuring out the resistance is easy.
How much Voltage do you need to drop? Around 1.2v?
What is the current (figuring around 2.2A)

1.2v/2.2A = 0.55 Ohm
1.2v * 2.2A = 2.64 W

The magD head is my heatsink for now , i know its not the bestway, but maybe i can install a aluminium heatsink in the head-tube later.
A modded the 2 x 3lipo's with a 6S connector so i can charge them all together. (they fit fine in the magD tube)
I cant move the reflector(and led) right upto the lens because the led is mounted there where the treads are to fasten the magD head. Maybe with an aluminium spacer? Dont have the tools to machine something like that.
Thanks for calculating the resistor.

Looks seriously badass but I wouldn't run it without a resistor; can't imagine over driving that led would be good for it.
