The best bang for $'s is to buy:
1x Solar panel (40watt+) $55
1x Solar regulator (to chargeabattery) $40 don't skimp on this, buy the best you can
1x Deep cycle car battery (60amp hours+) $100
with cable, 12volt cig socket fuses etc $30
I have a 60watt solar panel, a 105 amp/hr battery and a Stecca style solar regulator. When fully charged, I can charge all my flashlight batteries and laptops for weeks. I can even run my adsl modem and a few other items. This way you can charge the deep cycle battery when the sun is out and then charge up items at your own leisure later, even when there is no sun.
