Well, I guess I can answer my own question here. I went ahead and ordered the v3.1 to compare with the 'standard' MOP reflector. The first thing I noticed is that, despite the fact that the v3.1 is considered a MOP reflector, it's really more of a LOP. Therefore, it's NOT going to break up the beam like the 'standard' MOP reflector. It's also not going to do nearly as good of a job at filling in the donut hole. However, it is still more artifact-free than the standard smooth Mag reflector. So if you still want good throw with a tight hotspot, this is a good replacement for the standard Mag reflector. But for a good, floody light, you are better off with the 'standard' MOP reflector.
