Can the Surefire KX1a LED head be driven by 2x CR123A batteries, if I put it on and E2D body for instance?

I figured this would be the best place to ask, if not let me know. Thanks!

According to the specs, KX1A supports 3V, so you won't be able to.

KX1A can handle 1XCR123, and 2X NiMh AA's, 2X NiCd AA's, as well as 2X Alkaline AA cells. It can probably handle 1X LiFePO4 (3.2 V RCR123), though not sure.

What is likely to happen if I try to drive it with 2xCR123's? Will I kill it?

Yes, the KX1A uses a boost circuit, and with two CR123's it will be overdriven, causing damage to the LED and circuit. Use a KX2 series SF to run two CR123's, as it uses a buck circuit, reducing the current to the LED so the LED can see the correct vf to run it in spec. My KX2 will run in regulation with three CR123's, or two Li-Ion cells.
