Surefire E2 -- Gun Metal vs. HA ?

I have owned a Surefire E2 in gun metal gray for over 6 months, and I have carried it in my rear pocket almost everyday.

To date, the only signs of wear are a few minor scratches on the pocket clip.

My questions:

What are the benefits of the HA version of the E2 vs. my gun metal gray version?

Can I expect the finish on my gun metal version of the E2 to hold-up long-term?

Thanks!

I insist on HA III for any light that is available with it, I feel it is that much better.

Having said that, I think that the gun metal/silver pewter colors of Type II will show less wear than any other, simply because the base metal won't show through the finish.

and even if the base metal does show through the finish, it wouldn't be that easy to tell because the colours are pretty similar /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif black type II anodizing on the hand makes it very obvious when the coating has worn off.

the gun metal finish is sometimes known as satin grey, and is silver in colour. it should be type II anodizing /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
