We added a new light to our collection this week - Black Shadow Terminator U3. So we decided to do some beamshot comparisons with it and other popular flooders and throwers. Of course it doesn't take much of an excuse to want to go play with my lights :)
So the contenders along with my recent test stats for each-
----------------------------------------------------------
SKYRAY KING T6 - 2165otf, 25kcd
BLACK SHADOW TERMINATOR U3 - 2830otf, 57kcd
FENIX TK75 U2 - 2925otf, 95kcd
BTU SHOCKER U2 - 2975otf, 132kcd (UCL lens)
THRUNITE TN31 XML U2 - 1100otf, 126kcd
OSTS TN31mb XP-G2 - 741otf, 426kcd
----------------------------------------------------------
Now these shots were not long distances, all roughly in the 80m - 125m range. It was an impromptu run to the park and we were mainly trying to show how spotty or floody each light was. There are 3 different sets for each of the 6 lights. And they are in order as listed above.
All of the contenders -

Now the first set, roughly 80m away -

Ok, now the last set, same lights and same order, about 125m away and about 25m high, thus not much flood shown on the ground for any of the lights-

Great display of beam profiles! Should prove helpful to many. Saab's 31 beam is certainly intense, the last shot looks like the tree is about to start smouldering!
Thanks for posting.

is the 31 mb that yellow in person ?
It's pretty yellow, but not quite that bad in person. I'd guess its maybe 4000k. The other lights in the shots being in the pretty cool direction doesn't help in the comparison color wise.

same shutter speed, same ISO, same aperture?

sorry i had to ask. i tried looking at the EXIF data but they're gone
Yes, we kept the all the setting the same on all the beam shots. I mean its possible something could have changed on us - but we were watching pretty close trying to be consistant. But crap happens. Any particular beamshot(s) that is making you wonder about this? I can go back and double check the original shots if you want. Just let me know which ones your curious about.
