My Wife thinks I'm a little obsessed with flashlights (OK, she's right about that) but sometimes I grow weary of the 'looks'. ;)

This weekend, we were all going somewhere in the evening and as I took my keys out of my pocket to lock the house door, my brand new SF EB1 pops out of my pocket, bounces down the stairs (6 of them) and skids across the concrete floor of the garage (I heard this I did not see this). Of course it's dark in there with only the garage door opener light illuminating things.

My Wife asks "what was that?" I answer "my new flashlight..." and I am not thrilled. Trying to help and find it she asks "what color is it?" to which I respond "Black...". Now, we need to find this thing before we pull the car out. It would suk to run over my new SureFire.

What to do...? Well, I pull my Jetbeam RRT-01 out of my other pocket and start shining it around, eventually locating it under the center of the car.

She says "you carry 2!?" to which I respond appropriately "How else am I supposed to find my black flashlight after I drop it in a dark place?" I can tell that hit home with her, and I get "the look" less now.

A little real life example of "2 is 1 and 1 is none".

As a side note, the EB1 is pristine. I can't see any damage at all from skidding across the concrete.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

You carry 6 lights? First time I read through, I thought that "("6 of them")" meant you dropped six of your lights down the stairs :)!!

Now that's funny.

I think 6 might be a little over the top even for a flashaholic.

Thanks for the good laugh.

LOL

My wife knows that my pockets are a virtual clown-car of flashlights.

She seems to know that I can just keep reaching in and get another one...

Wow! :eek:oo:

I thought I was a little over the top carrying 3. I can understand having a selection available in a bag, but 6-8 on my person? Not sure I'd know what to do with all that 'fire'power.:D

 10-11 on your person???

OK, I have to ask.

Are all of them complementary and each fills a different role in your lighting needs during the day?
Are they for redundancy?
Are they for loaning out to others?
You have so many favorites you can't choose?:naughty:
Some combination of the above?

Thanks,

It's more random, than anything. I carry the Pelican 1920 as a light to hold in my teeth. The Nuetron is for flood. The Archer 1a and Ea4 are new and awesome.
The sst50 is a nice floody beam. Keychain lights just seem like a good idea ;)

i like carrying backups, I've gotten a wee bit carried away :naughty: maybe

If you have a stamp collection, do people look at it, and ask if you really need all of those stamps, wouldn't just a few of them be enough?

Haha but we're talking about carrying not collecting. I own like 15 lights but I'd feel weird carrying more than 2 (unless it was a camping trip or something).

My wife usually says something like "hey flashlight boy, flashlight me" when she wants light.

And whenever I buy something new, I show it to her. She always says "Yep, it's a flashlight" and "Yep, it's a pocket knife."

But at least after all this time, she's sold on the usefulness of this stuff, even if she does tease me about it.
