Enlightened
I've have had old ribbed KL1 mod'ded by Chop almost a decade ago -- changed old optic to SO17xa reflector, and the 1-watt emitter to a Lux-III. The flexible input circuit was retained, but was uprated to be driven at 700mah. Another mod few years back (I'm not sure if it was Chop or Milky) was with an E-series and L1 bezel (photo), similar to what I enumerated below .
#1 - Change TIR optic to OP reflector for a more floody, yet with considerable hotspot
#2 - Bore/Machined the Bezel to accept the an Aleph LE module.
Milky seemed to be swamped right now with other personal projects so...
I'm looking for other modders who can perform a similar work on a Surefire KL1/2 or KX1/2 head :
In case, there will be difficulty in doing #2, I'm open to suggestions on a fixed LE instead, such as either or both --
a) - circuit change to fully support a 2.8 -to- 6.0 battery input; with at least two-mode (high-low) capability
b) - emitter change preferably with XM-L2 neutral tint
So in effect -- the LED head will actually be GUTTED, and only the aesthetics of being such remains...
