Help! E1B pocket clip won't come off

So I just got a Surefire E1B Backup in the mail today was going to remove the clip since I'll be carrying it loose in my pocket. So unscrew the head and try to slide it out, but it won't budge. My first thought was that the clip was glued in, so I tried dunking it in some boiling water to break the glue, but no dice. Any other suggestions?

Ok so I tried looping the paracord through and pulled as hard as I could, but wound up with nothing more than a bent clip. Also tried pliers to no avail.

I was finally able to pound the clip out (via a technique I wouldn't recommend to anyone else) but there was no little plastic piece in there

The two way clips don't have the plastic spacer because they don't need it apparently. That's normal.
