I'm looking to mod my p60 host. I've seen two images that I would like to try to recreate with my light. Any info on these mods? Sizes and places to buy the materials?

The first light is a Novatac... thats pretty far from a P60-host :eek:oo: And the second is some form of tritium-based light. The second might be doable if you make a base that fits in the rear of the bezel of your light, then apply tritium and some form of lens. The first one is pretty difficult to make if you are set on using your light.

Thanks for your input. I was giving examples of flashlight setups I liked. I haven't seen p60 drop ins modded other than a tri Nichia 219 setup with tritium vials in between the emitters.

You can get GITD o-rings from a CPF member called Fiddy over at the market place (if he still makes them). They will give you the behind the lens glow that both of those pictures show.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I think the second light is a Surefire E1B head on a Vital Gear FB1 body and the glowing could be from a Glow Inc type glow powder/epoxy mix layered around the LED behind the TIR optic. For more ideas and such there is some great info over in the Electroluminescent/GID sub forum.

new glow powder is much different from the crappy plastic glowy toys we had as kids, buy some little baggies of glow powder from glow inc and you'll see what I mean

The second pic looks like it was modded with an aspheric, and the space taken by reflector is instead replaced with glow material. This way, light that isn't collected by aspheric is at least used to charge glow material

Sigma sells a sample pack (one of all sizes (10 in total)) for $3. (The Solarforce drop-in case's o-ring matches with Sigma's 22mm o-ring, though Sigma's is thicker.)

The Surefire head looks like it has a blue o-ring, normal glass lens, plus a refracting lens. I can't tell if the blue light beneath the lens is coming from tritium, glow paint, or blue XP-E LED.
You can get a aspherical lens here:

Your L2P doesn't need a spacer at all, but does require the kit's black reflector.

Right now, Solarforce is selling drop-in cases, and half of them have a clear o-ring in them. I put the o-ring in before I insert the lens—this way, the metal rim will make no contact with the glass, while providing some watersealing (depending on how hard I tighten the bezel). The o-ring blocks about 1-3% of the beam I think.
Like Mattaus said, you can get custom-color GitD o-rings from Fiddy. I bought some stuff from him a few months ago. You might have to PM him to get a response. For replacing the L2P's black L-shaped o-ring, I order a few 90mm stripes that haven't been glued into a ring yet. I had to cut 2mm off for the ring to fit. So 86-88mm is what I would ask for. If you buy strips, tell Fiddy to seal the ends so the powder won't spill in the envelop during transport. :mecry:

Without the L-shaped o-ring, the stock Solarforce might move around. You can get a larger piece of glass (28.6mm) that is ultra-clear with anti-reflective coatings from Flashlightlens.com. The after-market after-market lens still have 1mm of wiggle room that might cause scratches, so I plan to add 8 dabs of paint around the lens. Of course, if you're going for an aspherical, you don't need a flat lens. A L2 bezel ring will help protect the lens, while a L2P bezel ring will keep the glass off a flat surface by only 1mm (compared to 3.5mm) while head-standing.

You can get GitD paint from both Glow Inc. and Kosmic Kreations. I order blue water paint from KK (because he's more than 50% less expensive), and will arrive any day now; then I'll see if they glow the same. I'm not sure if dry paint can conduct electricity when applied over contacts. I'm still waiting for an answer in this thread (shameless plug):

You can find tritium vials in CPF Marketplaces's "Other Personal":
http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/forumdisplay.php?108-WTS-Other-Personal
and some in "Dealer's Corner":

All those pictures of glowy tritium... it's like a bloody candy store in there for kids with credit cards.
I thought flashaholicism ends with flashlight. Boy, did I have another thing coming.

Thank you for taking the time to put all that info together. That's everything I need to know!
