My battery pack died in this light and while planning to build a new one, I thought it would be a good time to look at modding the light to an LED. Would like to get about 800 - 1000 lumens with a 20 - 30 degree beam. Would like about 2 - 3 hours of burn time on high. Believe I could fit a decent sizes LiFePO4 battery in the case and have a charger already since I am into RC helicopters.
What I am looking for is a way to replace the existing 35W MR16 spot bulb with a sufficiently powerful LED. I do have an electronics degree but have moved to the IT area and haven't used it much in years and the LED drivers and such is something I haven't looked into to this point so any and all advice is appreciated. I am continuing to research on the site to gather more info all the time.
