Hi,
Just a caution to modders out there, I have come across a few out of center dome LEDs. These came from different batches and two different suppliers, several months apart.
So check your LED for center before reflow. Cree does a better job at QC.

I have seen this on some sst50 and on some Ledengine LEDs. Haven't seen it on nichias yet. Thanks for posting.

I just checked my batch of 5 bare emitters & 3 had slight alignment issue, as shown in the 2nd photo.
I'm not sure how it will affect the beam because I'm gonna mount them on a triple star tomorrow.
I'll update if I find anything.

Yeah, noticed this as well. Dome is off center even though the registration marks are fine. Interesting to note the fine marks that are there to help the machines place the "parts" in the right spot, and yet the dome is off by so much. I'd hazard a guess that the tech punched in some numbers wrong, or missed a decimal place.

I just picked my best-centered one for smo reflector.

I have to say, haven't seen a Cree with this issue, BUT also have seen many more Crees than Nichias.

I can't contribute to the beam shot cause my 219 were for a triple dropin.
So  for me too! :D
