It appears that surefire is now selling the KX9 and KX9T a la Carte, I thought people might want to know about these.

It is interesting that they note them as being compatible with the M6/M3 but no mention of the M4. This despite them mentioning it compatible with the M98x weapon light, which like the M4, is also a 12v platform. One would think that there would be M4 users out there that would want to upgrade the engine without having to figure things out themselves. Go figure.

I would love to buy one for my old 4 cell M4.......... if it wouldn't blow up.

How to get the thumbs up to try it? Too $$$ to risk it unless Surefire will back it up

Great news, but it's only 700lm for the KX9T when the M6LT is rated at 900lm. I would have bought one of these for my M6 2 years ago but not really interested anymore.

Would be a very cool upgrade for the old incandescent 9 volt weaponlights.

The KX9-A is huge. Take a M3 bezel and add an inch! I don't know if I would mount this with a battery pack on the end of a rifle. The beam on mine has a green tint. It is equivalent to a 400 lumen M3LT or M6 w/MD60 in output and beam shape (I have both).

Thanks TK45 for posting the pic!

Who else has a KX9 head?

I just discovered these yesterday. I like the look of the relatively slim TIR head. I wonder how it performs against the KX9T in terms of throw.

Also, Surefire lists the KX9 as being compatible with the M3LT. Does anyone know if you would still get two levels?

Hey S1LVA,

The KX9 on the M3LT tube is still single stage, I just tried it. As for comparing the KX9 to the KX9T the beam patterns are similar but the KX9T, mine was on a M6LT rated at 900 lumens blows the KX9 away with brute force. The KX9 IMHO is more useful because if you sweep it on non-reflective objects within 5m the glare won't flare out your vision. That's not true with the KX9T. Check out my mini-review.

Any more feedback on these? Also, they offer them in black, tan and OD green. I assume the OD would be the best match for type III HA M3s and such?

Has anyone run the KX9T on a M4 yet?

I may place a call to SF and see if it will work. If not I guess u could always run a dummy cell along with 3 primaries. Or maybe even 2 x 17670s.

I run 2 x 18650 in my M6LT and it works great.
