Any idea how to run these two components on the same circuit off of the same power source?

Rebel Tri-Star (http://www.luxeonstar.com/Cool-White-6500K-Tri-Star-CoolBase-LED-540-lm-p/sr-03-wc100.htm)

6 inches of weatherproof flex LED ribbon (Red) (http://www.superbrightleds.com/more...oof-high-power-led-flexible-light-strip/1466/)

Can I run both of these off of the same resistor? I was looking to use ~8 AA batteries

No.

The second link shows a strip that seems to have sets of 3 LEDs in series arranged in parallel down the strip. There is not enough information to be sure, but it is likely that it has internal current regulation. It states Vin from 9 to 14.8 volts.
The first link shows three LED units with no internal current regulation, and with a maximum current and corresponding approximate voltage associated with it.
The first kind will not work without a resistor, or better a driver circuit. The second kind will not need or want a resistor for maximum performance.

Use one of the low voltage LED drivers listed on luxeonstars page to drive the LEDs, you can hook the LED strip directly to the batteries along with the driver/LEDs.. on a side note 8 AA batteries hooked in series to give you 12 Volts won't last long with the 700ma draw from the three LEDs and what ever length of the LED strip you have listed above.
