Newly Enlightened
Hi, folks!
This time I would like to show you a simple but nice made triple XM-L drop-in for the Cyclone C88.
The build quality is quite nice considering the low price.
But the internal parts are made very simple...
... like most budget flashlights. The original heatsink is weak and the contacts are messy soldered, too.
The materials for the new internal parts.
The new heatsink takes shape...
Done! With attachable adapter for the 26650 battery.
Three parallel re-wired XM-L U2-1C LEDs with nearly the same Vf. The PCB was glued using Arctic Silver thermal adhesive.
Massive brass contact on the back, to keep the resistance as low as possible. The GND of the driver is screwd and soldered. Potted with a high mineral (75-80% purest SiC) thermal adhesive.
Both parts together.
With some strontium aluminate unter the pins of the optic.
The new modes are 50mA - 300mA - 1,4A - 5A+. Thanks to the high mass and the perfect thermal transfer, the light can run continuously on high mode. Battery protection kicks in under 2.95V and halfs the output up to 5 times, before it switches completely off.
Regards,
Vinz
