Digital Regulator in KL5?

Hi guys,

Everyone knows that a digital regulator can help prolong the lifespan of the LED and ensure a consistent output.

My question is this, an L5 is digitally regulated but is the KL5 digitally regulated? I am thinking of purchasing the KL5 for my M2 but was told to get the L5 instead as cost wise between L5 and KL5 is not much different.

Thing is, I don't want to have another flashlight since I have an M2 and M3. But is the digital regulator built on the KL5 or the LOTC of the L5?

Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

The term "digitally regulated" is a misnomer IMHO. The DC-DC converters in the KL1,3, and 5 as I know it are predominantly analog servo circuits. There are no logic circuits (except maybe a comparator in the controller, but that's another story) in the converters, and the companies that make these DC-DC controllers are mostly in the analog business (Linear Tech, National, Maxim, just to name a few)
