L6 runtime _____few pics added

I have conducted a side-by-side run-time test on L4,L5,L6

1hr - all are bright
65 minutes - L4 is out, L5,L6 still going
69 minutes - L4,L5 are out, L6 still 100%
90 minutes - L6 still 100%
95 minutes - L6 at 100%
110 minutes - L6 at 100%
115 minutes - L6 at 90%
120 minutes - L6 at 60-70%
125 minutes - L6 at 40-50%
130 minutes - L6 at 25%

Conclusion: you can get 1hr45 minutes 100% output out of L6.

Heat.
After 1 hr you can not touch L4, L5 is very hot, L6 is barely warm(like KL1 after 1 hr).

Double the runtime, 3x the brightness, 1.5x the batteries. That's good math for me!

This is definitely one reason to "warm" to the L6.

FC, thanks for the runtime test. Did the L6 get too hot at the end of its regulated output? The longest I have used mine for is 10mins, and it barely gets warm.

Where do you get these figures ? I don't see it, unless you're talking about a slightly smaller hot spot (more Lux/candela))

I see the same 5 watt with a different reflector.

OK, John, 2.5x the brightness...in the center.

I was referring to throw brightness, not total light output. They both have approximately the same total light output, although the L6 may have a hair more as it appears to possibly be driving the LED 10-20% harder.

Measurements are about 650cd for the L4 and 1600cd for the L6 at beam center.

The throw of this light is obvious at my light shootout. I didn't have an L5.

Thanks for doing a run-time test. I was hoping for 2 hours run-time from the L6, it looks like it comes really close!

In your earlier chart (Candela/Throw for 1 fc/typical light), you had the KL5 listed at 2000 candela; does this mean the L6 has less candela than the L5??

Nice shots! I especially like the final shot of the lights bezel down; not so much for the information conveyed but simply for the artistic composition. It's very effective and appealing to me.

Measurement techniques and individual light samples vary and yes, it does mean that my measurement technique and my sample of the L6 has a lower peak output than the other person's L5 based on his measurement technique.

I'd love to see Quickbeam's comparisons.
