I have a Quark Mini AA2 that is suffering from significantly reduced output. Quick twists of the head cycles the light through low, medium and high - and all disco modes - but the output is greatly reduced. I'd very roughly estimate that low, med and high levels are at about .1, 2 and 20 lumens respectively. Two sets of fresh alkaline batteries (from different manufacturers) were tried with no improvement. Looking inside the main tube revealed a small glob of residue from the leakage of a previous alkaline battery. This glob was located in the middle of the tube where the two AAs meet one another. Wrapping some sandpaper around a small wooden dowel removed most of the residue with no problem, but resulted in no increase in output. There is no evidence that any of the corrosive battery fluids reached either end of the battery tube. All threads are pristine and neither the head nor the tailcap/spring show any hint of corrosion. Any ideas?
