I am trying to make an LED flounder gigging light and I know Nathan about wiring. I want to power it with an li-on 18650 3.7-4.2v battery, I need to have a mr16 but I want it to be at least 900-1000 lumens. any suggestions on led light or a different battery pack would be greatly appreciated!

In Texas I grew up using a Coleman lantern, a two prong gig, a stringer tied to a belt loop for the Flounder, and a Burlap tow sack for the Crabs.

This is the first time that it ever occurred to me that we might have flashlights for it today.

It needs to be a broad light that doesn't focus your attention too narrowly.

I would go shopping on e-bay, dealextreme, kaidomain, or your other favorite site and buy an XM-L, SST-50, or SST-90 based flashlight. They are cheap and plentiful, and all you have to do is cut back or remove the reflector to have a smooth, wide beam.

A single 18650 won't last long pushing out that kind of light. You might want to consider more cells for more time.
