Attaching diffuser film to Eagletac D25A2, swapable

I want to experiment with different diffusers in front of my Eagletac D25A2 light. I got a set of sample diffusers sheets from Luminit. These are approx 2" squares of diffusing material with a variety of different optical properties. (For example one might diffuse isotropically at 25 deg and another one might diffuse 25 degrees in one direction but only 5 deg in the perpendicular direction.) I would like to be able to cut out sections from these sheets, mount them somehow, and be able to swap the different diffusers onto the light so I can change between them.

Can anybody suggest a reasonably robust mounting system that would allow me attach the diffuser material securely, but still swap between different sheets?

According to EagleTac 2012 catalog, there are several D25A2 models

  • D25A2 mini - bezel Ø 17mm
  • D25A2 clicky - bezel Ø 21mm

Eagletac does not appear to offer filters/diffusers fitting their D25A2 models;
I'm afraid you'll have a hard time locating third-party flat-surface filter/diffuser of the appropriate diameter.

However, you may want to try:

  • Fenix AD401 flip-up diffuser - fits Ø 20-21.5 mm
  • Xeno TW15V2 is a wand kind of diffuser made of POM resin - fits Ø 21.5 mm

Another alternative is to use a "dome" diffuser such as this one, which fits Ø 20-24mm.

Do the replacement lenses fit inside the front bezel? I couldn't quite tell what they were selling there.

I have the D25A2 clicky. Note that I'm trying to get a limited amount of diffusion, not total diffusion, which is why I wanted to use the diffusing film. (I'm particularly curious about using the films that spread the beam in only one direction.) I wonder if I can buy a plastic pipe with ID = 21mm somewhere. Hmmm. I see nylon and fiberglass tubes with 13/16" ID available at mcmaster.

Adrian,

The diffusers mentionned above all slip over bezels of the indicated diameters.

I don't own the light, but since they sell replacement lenses, I imagine you thread off the bezel ring, replace the lens, and thread the bezel ring back on. Try unscrewing the bezel ring to see.
