Hey guys-
it's late and I haven't searched very well but has anyone tried & had any success using RTV silicone sealant to waterproof their bezels or threads?

I have a DQG tiny 18650 that's got a rough edge on the optic and let a bit of water through when I dunk tested it.

The O-ring alone is not cutting it so I tried a bit of RTV & it seems to help.
Not sure if it will eventually cloud the optic from off gassing or anything.

The o-rings on the threads for the twisty head are letting a bit if water past too so I saturated everything with nano-lube.

Thought maybe the dive guys would have some ideas or experience with RTV type stuff and overall waterproofing.

Thanks for any thoughts or opinions ;)

data (of the Cool-Fall sub-forum) uses some silicon sealant for his Tri-V 007s.

You could try emailing or PM'ing him to see what he uses.

From the DIVE LIGHTING LIBRARY sticky in the Dive Lighting subforum of the Special Applications Lighting forum (you'd have better luck posting your question there):

Use the RTV made for sealing engines, made to replace head gaskets. Some late model German direct injection engines run very high compression rates and these RTV are used in factories to seal the head. The neutral cure ones is the one to get, these material are soft and flexible makes it easy for disassembly. The waterproofing capabilities is incredible if seal is applied correctly.
