What does anyone know about the specs on this light and when will it be released?

I also am very interested in this one. Going to pay real close attention the the switch though. I hope it's like the TM15/26 and EC25 and NOT like the EA4/EA8.

What's wrong with the switches in the EA4/EA8? I have the original Tiny Monster and like that switch. Will this EAX be able to use the rechargeable Eneloops?

There were some issues with the switch ballooning/bubbling, see:

However, Nitecore has corrected the issue. See the response Bigmac_79 was given (and posted):

I've updated the OP with some good news, and I'll add it here so you don't have to scroll back up :)

All the serial number begins with 307 (July 2013) are 100% renew the new material, the product gets in the market before July might be using the old material, but not all of them.

We will be happy to replace all the faulty material products, customers will only need to contact the dealer where they purchased, or email our customer service: [email protected], they will get a new EA4 for free.

Nitecore does not suggest users repairing their lights their own.

Mostly a personal preference. My EA8 switch crapped out.
Too me the TM15/EC25 switches have a better feel to them.

I hope it comes to be though. I will probably want one with either switch. New and different light, you know.

Really interested in this light as well. I have been wanting an EA8 since they came out but not bought one yet, if this is due out soon I'd get it instead.

Wow! If this is really coming I'm wondering what it's going to be using? 3 xm-l2's? It's crazy that they can consolidate enough power from 8 eneloops to boost that high.

I'm really hoping this isn't a 200 plus dollar light.

For what its worth I just got a reply as to the release date ...

"Thank you for your interests in NITECORE.
EAX estimated to be released in April. Now we still not have the concrete date of releasing. Please be a little more patient.
Any questions, please feel free to ask.''

That was the answer I received

It will be using 2 XM-L T6 LEDs.
